OH WHAT A DAY THIS HAS BEEN!
Updated

It began with an 8:30 a.m. report to duty Saturday at Arlington National Cemetery where we heard Morrill Worcester's remarks about those we would soon remember and honor with Christmas wreaths.

Some photos here give you a sense of the wonder and pride and privilege we felt at being able to place beautifully fragrant balsam fir wreaths at the gravesites of 10,000 of our servicemen and women who rest in eternal peace in Section 33 of our national burial site. Here, Mary Lou Wade and I posed for a snapshot with Morrill Worcester, whose company -- The Worcester Wreath Company -- contributed the wreaths. A reporter from the Washington Post caught up with Mary Lou at her brother's gravesite. You can read the article here.

I'll post more photos later. But for now, here's a sample of this morning's event, held in the bitter cold of a December morning, in the shadow of our nation's capitol.

The ten thousand wreaths were transported from Maine aboard two tractor trailer trucks, accompanied by a convoy of Maine State Police troopers, Patriot Guard Riders, Rolling Thunder, Honor Ride, and veterans of the Vietnam war.

My friend Mary Lou Wade, whose brother Capt. Herbert C. Crosby was laid to rest last May, is interviewed by Washington Post reporter Dan Morse. The article is expected to be in Sunday's edition. Update: Read the article here.

Mary Lou places a wreath on her brother's grave. "Herby's" remains were repatriated after 37 years MIA in Vietnam.

Here I am with the wreath that I placed on the grave of William Albert Hales, a native of my home state of Massachusetts. I chose to place the wreath on his grave for a couple of reasons: He was a fellow Bay Stater, and he died the same day -- January 10 -- as my friend Mary Lou's brother Capt. Crosby, having served in World War II and the Korean War.

Awesome. My only reservation is that I couldn't be there too. And yes, I too marvel at the greatness of this country and its loving and generous people.

Publius, Doug, Wade, Miss Birdlegs, Pamela, David M. and David K. --

Thanks for dropping by the Radio Patriot and taking time to let us know your thoughts about the wreath-placing project.

It was such a moving experience, and one I would like to repeat every year. Morrill Worcester is a true patriot, and his message should be spread far and wide:

"We Make It Our Business to NEVER FORGET."

Merry Christmas to you all, fellow patriots!
