I mentioned this in my earlier post below. But Rush Limbaugh just read it aloud on his program, and it bears further attention here as well. As Rush said, when Thomas Sowell is writing something like this, it is time to stop gathering information and DO something about it.

Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many "czars" appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?

Did you think that another "czar" would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers-- that is, to create a situation where some newspapers' survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?

Did you imagine that anyone would even be talking about having a panel of so-called "experts" deciding who could and could not get life-saving medical treatments?

Scary as that is from a medical standpoint, it is also chilling from the standpoint of freedom. If you have a mother who needs a heart operation or a child with some dire medical condition, how free would you feel to speak out against an administration that has the power to make life and death decisions about your loved ones?

Does any of this sound like America?

How about a federal agency giving school children material to enlist them on the side of the president? Merely being assigned to sing his praises in class is apparently not enough.

How much of America would be left if the federal government continued on this path? President Obama has already floated the idea of a national police force, something we have done without for more than two centuries.

We already have local police forces all across the country and military forces for national defense, as well as the FBI for federal crimes and the National Guard for local emergencies. What would be the role of a national police force created by Barack Obama, with all its leaders appointed by him? It would seem more like the brown shirts of dictators than like anything American.

How far the President will go depends of course on how much resistance he meets. But the direction in which he is trying to go tells us more than all his rhetoric or media spin.

Barack Obama has not only said that he is out to "change the United States of America," the people he has been associated with for years have expressed in words and deeds their hostility to the values, the principles and the people of this country.

Jeremiah Wright said it with words: "God damn America!" Bill Ayers said it with bombs that he planted. Community activist goons have said it with their contempt for the rights of other people.

Among the people appointed as czars by President Obama have been people who have praised enemy dictators like Mao, who have seen the public schools as places to promote sexual practices contrary to the values of most Americans, to a captive audience of children.

Those who say that the Obama administration should have investigated those people more thoroughly before appointing them are missing the point completely. Why should we assume that Barack Obama didn't know what such people were like, when he has been associating with precisely these kinds of people for decades before he reached the White House?

Nothing is more consistent with his lifelong patterns than putting such people in government-- people who reject American values, resent Americans in general and successful Americans in particular, as well as resenting America's influence in the world.

Any miscalculation on his part would be in not thinking that others would discover what these stealth appointees were like. Had it not been for the Fox News Channel, these stealth appointees might have remained unexposed for what they are. Fox News is now high on the administration's enemies list.

Nothing so epitomizes President Obama's own contempt for American values and traditions like trying to ram two bills through Congress in his first year-- each bill more than a thousand pages long-- too fast for either of them to be read, much less discussed. That he succeeded only the first time says that some people are starting to wake up. Whether enough people will wake up in time to keep America from being dismantled, piece by piece, is another question-- and the biggest question for this generation.

THE SCARIEST MAN IN AMERICA

A couple of things this morning while I'm sipping my coffee and tuned in to Glenn Beck's radio program...

The Washington Post has a hit piece on Beck, using Beck's PR guy Matt Hiltzik as a foil to paint him to be some reincarnation of Lonesome Rhodes. Glenn tore it apart, pointing to all the journalistic errors -- three in the first sentence alone -- and the strategy behind the piece, that these thugs in the White House first come after you and try to isolate you. Next they go after your employer, and when that doesn't work, they go after your friends and associates. That's where they're at now. It's the Saul Alinsky (Chicago) way: Isolate the target. Freeze it. Polarize it. And then destroy it. Beck says they're not going to destroy him unless they shoot him. "But they're more subtle than that," he assured his listeners "...But just so you know, I'm not suicidal and my brakes are working fine."

You've tried to destroy me personally. Then you tried to destroy my business. Then you tried to destroy me and drive a wedge between me and Fox News. Then you tried to destroy Fox News. Well, none of those things have worked.

So now what you have to do is destroy everybody around me to isolate me as much as gee, that sounds like Saul Alinsky. Isolate me. Make sure nobody will talk to me.

I got news for you, man. Except for the White House my phone is ringing all the time. I can't tell you how many people are coming out of the woodwork to squeal on the corruption that is going on. We're working on stories now that will boggle your mind. I think we have one maybe coming out today, maybe. If not today, then it's going to be tomorrow. And tomorrow I unveil the blue, the blue curtained chalkboard.

To Find the Right PR Guru, Beck Looked to his Left
Since Hiltzik has started working for Beck, the commentator has graced the cover of Time and the front page of the New York Times (a copy of which is framed in Beck's Manhattan office). He made the Forbes Celebrity 100 list and was profiled by "20/20." He has millions of radio listeners. His books are bestsellers. His Web site is a cash cow. His comedy tour sells out theaters around the country.

And his name is cursed in the White House.

Beck's fame is, of course, directly related to the heightened platform given to him by Fox News, and his willingness to use it to say outrageous things. Hiltzik said that he deferred to Fox News on all things related to Beck's television show. He repeatedly said that he had nothing to do with the content of Beck's commentary.

Some of Hiltzik's critics failed to find that a convincing distinction.

"Lawyers sometimes have to represent mobsters," said Green, the onetime mayoral candidate in New York and president of Air America Media. "But it's not the same excuse when you are a public relations guy. There's a due process that requires everyone to have a lawyer in a criminal case. There is no due process that requires a talk show host to have a flak."

"I love Matt," said Ken Sunshine, a Democratic activist and public relations powerbroker whom Hiltzik regards as a mentor. "I value our friendship, but I wouldn't be caught dead representing Glenn Beck."

Hiltzik is ever ready for counterattack. "Apparently Mark failed to mention that he sought my assistance in resolving an Air America issue," Hiltzik said. "And that he called me repeatedly this summer soliciting contributions for his most recent campaign."

Forbes Top Ten Scariest People of 2009 has named Beck it's #1 Scariest. Such an honor!

In a brief interview with Steve Forbes, Glenn asked him why rich people like wealthy progressives George Soros and Michael Moore hate capitalism. Soros is dumping another $50m into an anti free-market think tank. "Why do rich people hate capitalism? Because once they make it, they feel guilty about it," was Forbes' best guess.

Later, Wall Street Journal's Steven Moore explained how Soros made his fortune by shorting the dollar and other currencies, and made $9billion from hedge funds last year alone during an economic downturn. Is he pursuing policies that undermine the US dollar to make money off it? Soros is involved in this newly established think tank council to fight capitalism. And they're all economists, some Nobel prize winners.

"A dollar today is worth .62 compared to a year ago, because of the enormous debt. If we continue to spend the way we are, the only way out of this crisis is by continued devaluation of the dollar. We're facing a jihad against the free enterprise system. The only checks and balances are you and Rush Limbaugh the other people they're trying to gag," according to Steven Moore from WSJ.

Net neutrality is big money determined to shut down and control free speech. Glenn referred to de Toqueville's "Democracy in America" who wrote that a democracy can become so great and so successful that those who benefit most will want to close the door to anyone else.

Where are the wealthy Americans who are willing to put their country first, business second?

General McCrystal, the man in charge of fighting for a our freedom in Afghanistan was asked to submit a threat assessment to win the war.

He complied.

Over 60 days ago he requested 40,000 combat troops to surge and defeat the Taliban and Al Qaeda.

In the mean time our troops are getting killed.

President Obama is not listening to his General.

General McCrystal has asked and has so far been denied the resources to win this war.

Senator John Kerry, the left wing anti American, communist just told the national press that general McCrystal's request is over reaching and too fast.

What the hell does John Kerry know what the General in combat needs to win this war ?

John Kerry is a waste of tax payer money.

He was sympathetic to the enemy in Vietnam and he has now just publicly thrown General McCrystal under the bus.

If I were general McCrystal I would resign and retire.

Steve Schippert of Threats Watch and host of Take That Radio weighs in:

Listening to John Kerry for National Security insight is like watching NFL Network and waiting for the Pele' biography.

Period.

Kerry's bus is small, lacking tread, and running in reverse.

The question is whether he is foreshadowing the Obama announcement.

The Obama White House said weeks ago that they would not make a decision - nay, would not be pressured into a decision domestically - until the Afghan run off was determined. This, the argument went, was to ensure we knew what kind of ally/government we would have in Afghanistan.

Funny thing, that run off. Obama has signaled his decision will be announced within hours of poll closings in Afghanistan next week. It will take days perhaps weeks to know the hand-counted results from across the country.

So which election is he waiting for really? The Afghan elections, with results unknown, or the NJ/NY/VA elections, the results which will be known the night of election day next week?

The truth, to me, is clear. He is avoiding an announcement before US elections which are critical barometers of his policies. And why?

Because he will announce a less than full surge, which will be immensely unpopular, criticized and will anger many. This would show up in NJ/NY/VA polls. So he will save it for after then to damage them less.

If he were truly going to go out to win in Afghanistan, a decision which would be applauded from the center to the right and even among the non-hard left, he would have announced before - even close to - the state elections.

Brace yourselves. There is a dithering, withering path ahead.

John Kerry is laying the foundations for it now.

We will not see an Afghan Surge (TM) for one simple, yet critical, reason. Do you all recall, post-stimulus, the Obama budget forcasts that were eventually blown out of the water by both the CBO and reality? Do you remember where most of the budgetary "savings" came from?

That's right, a draw down in Iraq. Merely shifting these resources in number and cost to Afghanistan will have an even more devastating impact on the already laughable Obama budget projections, and materialize right in the heat of 2010 election cycles. Deficit beyond imagination and so far off Obama forecasts as to appear wholly mindless. the 2010 elections would be an even hotter Hell to pay for Dems supporting the O nonsense.

This was the reality that I saw from the beginning: That Afghanistan will be starved of resources rather than fed them as Candidate Obama assured in his pledges to fight "the real war" in Afghanistan.

It is domestic budget - NOT intellectually considered counterinsurgency v. counterterrorism strategies - which will dictate how this White House conducts the war in Afghanistan.

The trick for them is how to sell not shifting resources from Iraq to Afghanistan as brilliance rather than the domestic policy trickery that it really is.

Our enemies can take heart: This President and his team have greater and more aggressive designs on the American society and its free market-based economy than on them, the jihadists who would slit our throats quite literally given opportunity.

And this budget elephant in the Situation Room is what makes me so angry when folks consider Biden/Levin/Kerry options as intellectually vetted counterterrorism alternatives.

Bull! Look at the budget. Someone go back to spring '09 and dig up the Iraq Drawdown accounting in O's budget as the source for freed funds. Fighting the enemy in Afghanistan? It was bull on the campaign trail, and its bull now. Iraq Drawdown funds (created or saved) were never - EVER - accounted for as shifting to another theater of war, "real" or imagined. It was shifted to redistribution schemes here at home.

Go ahead. Prove me wrong. Please. Someone.

THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS - DEJA VU?

In my World Net Daily column Surfin Safari this week and last, I wrote that it was 47 years ago this month our nation was threatened with nuclear war with the Soviet Union over nuclear missiles being installed in Cuba. We know it as The Cuban Missile Crisis. President John Kennedy spent a tense 13 days negotiating with then Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev to remove the nukes. Khrushchev thought he could get away with it because he perceived JFK to be weak against Communism when our president buckled with the Bay of Pigs disaster earlier in his Administration.

The Cuban Missile Crisis
Last week, I told you about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Forty-seven years ago, the world breathed a collective sigh of relief after the superpowers reached an agreement ending the immediate threat of nuclear war. Russian leader Nikita Khrushchev agreed to dismantle all Russian missiles based in Cuba and ship them back to the Soviet Union.
The announcement was made in a public message to President John F Kennedy broadcast on Moscow Radio. In response, President Kennedy said the decision to remove the Cuban missiles was an "important contribution to peace". He also promised the U.S. would not invade Cuba and would eventually lift the U.S. naval blockade imposed on the island and remove the Jupiter missiles based in Turkey.
And the Cold War continued.

Today we find that history is repeating itself. Are the Russians smelling weakness in our "president"? From World Net Daily:

Russia is offering to modernize Cuba's deteriorating weapons systems – installed when the former Soviet Union was expanding worldwide – and it also wants to reactivate a sensitive electronic eavesdropping station on the nearby island at Lourdes, use Cuba as a base to refuel its bombers and a port to replenish supplies on its warships, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

These developments emerged following the visit to Cuba in late September by Gen. Nikolai Makarov, chief of the Russian General Staff. Makarov met with Cuban President Raul Castro in Havana.
Cuba's Soviet-made military equipment has been falling apart. After an assessment, the Russian military has decided to undertake a comprehensive modernization. In addition, the Cuban army also will receive Russian military training.

There's more.

The question now is: what will our current "president" do about it?

Care to guess? After all, he loves being compared with JFK...

Folks, if we are going to have victory over these corruptocrats in Washington, we have to storm our congressional district offices. Letters, phone calls, and emails just are not going to cut it. Set up a schedule with your neighbors, friends, meet-up groups, to pay a visit to your senator and congressman's local office. Even though they might not be in town, their people are. And the word will get back to Washington. WE ARE HERE AND WE DEMAND YOU VOTE TO PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION!

A lot of us are under the misperception that these Jamokes work for us. Well, here's the sad sorry truth. They DON'T. They work for the special interests that own them. And because they're grunting and squealing at the public taxpayer (our) trough, they also kow-tow to the Marxist in the White House.

Don't allow it happen anymore. Make your presence known. Let them feel and smell your breath. Go to them -- make your physical presence work for you. Be polite. Maintain proper decorum. But get there. Schedule appointments. Or walk in. Make them know we're mad as hell and we're NOT going to stand for it! Cards, letters, and emails aren't enough anymore. Get to your congressional District offices and tell them what's on your mind. Do it first thing tomorrow. And the next day, and the day after that. Keep a steady stream of patriots walking in and out the door. Overwhelm them the same way they're overwhelming us.

DON'T STOP! LET THOSE SOBs KNOW WE MEAN BUSINESS TOO! And we won't stand by making pitiful mewing sounds on our telephone calls to them any more. Here, read what Joe is telling the dummies out there...

When Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) had his turn to question Sebelius, he raised the issue of whether the United States was "entitled" to the vaccine more than other nations. "Why should we be more entitled, the U.S. be more entitled to that vaccine than some other country in the world?"

Dear Gentlemen:

We are military moms.

We have sons, daughters, husbands, and loved ones serving in the United States Military protecting the freedom of not only our country, but the freedoms of people all over the world.

And we are furious.

President Obama has promised to provide our loved ones with the resources to fight this war in Afghanistan. According to former Vice President Dick Cheney in his acceptance speech for the Keeper of the Flame Award on October 21, 2009 , “in August of this year, speaking at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the President made a promise to America’s armed forces. ‘I will give you a clear mission, defined goals, and the equipment and support you need to get the job done. That’s my commitment to you.’”

We are furious because the President still, after more than two months since the request from General McChrystal, has not made a decision to supply those resources. His delay in providing the necessary and sufficient support to our troops means our children are dying unnecessarily. We desire your assistance in making sure the President keeps his promise.

We have written to the President demanding an explanation. We have received nothing. The President has time to party and raise money for politics, but no time for being the Commander in Chief and doing the right thing for our military. Instead he and his administration deem it more important to wage a war on Fox News and the Chamber of Commerce. Shame on him.

We are furious because you, elected officials who work for us and for those military men and women, are doing nothing to get them the resources they need to win this war. You could be urging this President to support our troops in Afghanistan. You should be fighting for them in Washington. But you are not. Your silence on this matter is deafening. Instead, you are playing politics with health care. The place people are actually dying in the streets is in Afghanistan. And some of them are in US military uniforms. Shame on you.

We are tired of your politics. We are tired of your games. This is not a game to us. These are our children, our husbands, our loved ones. Your political games do not even come close to measuring up to the importance of their lives.

We do not speak in Congressional jargon and eloquent platitudes. We are simple speaking women, but do not misunderstand. We will not be ignored.

We demand that you and others in positions of power (including the President) do your jobs and immediately provide them the resources they need to get the job done; change the rules of engagement so that our deployed forces can perform the mission they were sent to accomplish; and bring them home when the victory is ours.

Last night I was invited to speak before a group of fellow patriots -- the local chapter of The Friends of Ronald Reagan club.

I was welcome to speak on any topic so after consideration, I decided to talk about the new media: blogs, on-line news journals, micro-blogs like Twitter, social networks like Facebook, and the growing impact these elements are having on news collection and dissemination.

Most of those in the audience already knew my background as a TV anchor/reporter, radio show host, newspaper columnist and magazine writer.

I told them about the radio show I host on the internet from the comfort of my home. Equipped with nothing more than a computer, internet connection, telephone, we bring on nationally reknowned experts, analysts, authors, and newsmakers who are plowing new ground with research and results that keep us updated and oftentimes ahead of the curve with breaking news.

Among the more recent guests -- Dr. Jerry Corsi on the Selling of America, Anita MonCrief on the corruption of ACORN, Mario Apuzzo on the legal challenge to Obama's constitutional eligibility, Jack Cashill on the Bill Ayers-Obama-Dreams From My Father connection; the controversial Orly Taitz on her lawsuits demanding Obama reveal his birth certificate; noted blogger Pamela Geller about Rifka Bary and Islamist "honor killings"; and so many others it would take an archive of shows to list them all.

I told them about Andrew Brietbart and how his Bigs (Big Hollywood and Big Government, and at least three more Bigs in the pipeline) are zooming past the legacy media with breaking news and exposes of ACORN, the NEA, Van Jones, Anita Dunn, and tons more. Leaving the "drive by's" wondering what just blew by them.

I told them about Conservative Hollywood and actor Ed Ames, who talked of a growing conservative movement among the show biz types and Big Hollywood's aim to expose Tinseltown's Lefist agenda and show there is a growing united front on the Right. And how the Left marginalizes those who disagree with them, like they do with self-described Black Conservative Lloyd Marcus. And the special friendship writer and author Burt Boyar of L.A. had with the late Sammy Davis Jr. who struggled with racism and discrimination.

I brought the conversation back to the "now" -- the White House attack on Fox News and talk radio and the internet, how Obama, Rahm and the Axe, along with Anita Dunn et al want to control the message, freezing out Fox. How Glenn Beck is charting new truth territory by questioning with boldness.

And how the current Administration could not -- repeat, COULD NOT get away with what they're doing without the mainstream (now more commonly known as the "fringe left") media's complicity. I contrasted today's Washington Post with the WaPo of the Watergate era, reporters Woodward and Bernstein who routed about for the facts as though they were (pardon) boars hungrily digging for Watergate truffles.

I asked if they were familiar with Operation Mockingbird. Not surprisingly, they knew nothing of the 1940-50's CIA project to feed misinformation to our domestic media outlets which were willing accomplices. Under the guise of national security, of course. The methods employed in Operation Mockingbird are being used with a deft and practiced hand by our president and his minions. Leaks. Lies. Misinformation. Media malfeasance.

The old media has thrown in with the Hopenchange crowd who are doing their damndest to bring our nation to its knees in obeisance before our enemies the world over. Mr. President, take a bow. Again.

But there is an antidote. New media is what will save our bacon, if (to borrow a phrase from Ben Franklin) we can keep it.

So, was my talk well-received? We'll find out if I'm invited back.

APUZZO/KERCHNER LAWSUIT AGAINST OBAMA DISMISSED, TO BE APPEALED.

Attorney Mario Apuzzo and lead plaintiff Charles Kerchner laid out their case on my radio program during "Birther Week". Today they have disappointing but not unexpected news. On his website this morning, Apuzzo wrote:

The Hon. Jerome B. Simandle of the Federal District Court in the District of New Jersey at 10:39 a.m., on October 21, 2009, filed his long-awaited opinion dismissing the Kerchner et al. v. Obama et al. complaint/petition.

In the complaint/petition, we allege that Obama has not conclusively proven that he was born in Hawaii. We also allege that even if he was so born, he is not an Article II “natural born Citizen” because his father was a British subject/citizen when Obama was born and Obama himself was born a British subject/citizen, all of which makes him ineligible to be President and Commander in Chief of the Military.

We also allege that Congress violated it constitutional duty under the Twentieth Amendment to adequately investigate and confirm whether Obama is an Article II “natural born Citizen.”

Judge Simandle ruled that the plaintiffs do not have Article III standing and that therefore the court does not have subject matter jurisdiction. The Court found that the plaintiffs failed to show that they suffered an “injury in fact.” It added that plaintiffs’ alleged injury is “only a generally available grievance about government” and “is one they share with all United States citizens.” Finally, it said that plaintiffs’ “motivations do not alter the nature of the injury alleged. . .”

By way of footnote, the Court said that even if the plaintiffs could show that the Court had Article III standing, they would not be able to show that the court should exercise jurisdiction because prudential standing concerns would prevent it from doing so.

Finally, the Court again in a footnote said that it cannot take jurisdiction of the issue of whether Obama is a “natural born Citizen” and whether Congress has acted constitutionally in its confirmation of Obama for President because the matter is a “political question” which needs to be resolved by Congress.

The Court said that there simply is no room for judicial review of political choices made by the Electoral College and the Congress when voting for and confirming the President. The Court added that the plaintiffs’ remedy against Congress may be achieved by voting at the polls.

It is important to understand that the Court did not rule that Obama has conclusively proven that he was born in Hawaii.

It is also important to understand that the Court did not rule that Obama is an Article II “natural born Citizen.”

Rather, the Court dismissed the plaintiffs’ case because of jurisdiction and the political question doctrine without commenting on the underlying merits of whether Obama is constitutionally qualified to be President and Commander in Chief of the Military.

The Court also did not rule that the plaintiffs’ claims are frivolous. Given the nature of the Court's decision, the American People unfortunately still do not know whether Obama is constitutionally qualified to be President and Commander in Chief.

Apuzzo added that the ruling will be appealed to the Third District Court of Appeals in Philadelphia.

Anita is the former ACORN employee who is blowing the whistle on the organization that has many criminal suits against it. Yes that ACORN - the one Glenn Beck exposed on his afternoon TV program. The one I've written about on this site more than a dozen times in posts about Anita's brave involvement in helping expose this corrupt organization.

The White House says President Barack Obama will not send more U.S.troops until a credible government is in place.

From a military friend who sent this by email last night with the note:

Those SOBs! Commander wants troops; troops denied. Somalia all over again.

It would be irresponsible to send more troops to Afghanistan until a legitimate and credible government is in place, the White House and top Democrats said Sunday.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said the most critical issue facing U.S. strategy is whether the Afghans can be an effective partner in destroying Al Qaeda safe havens and bringing stability to the region.

"It would be reckless to make a decision on U.S. troop levels if in fact you haven't done a thorough analysis of whether in fact there's an Afghan partner ready to fill that space that U.S. troops would create and become a true partner in governing," Emanuel said in an interview Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

Emanuel stressed that the central question is "not how much troops you have but whether in fact there's an Afghan partner."

Meanwhile, Karl Rove just revealed that James Carville was in Afghanistan prior to the Afghani election advising Karzai's.... opponent. Deliberate attempt to destabilize Afghanistan's government? "Take a look at what this administration has done. They have destabilized the Afghan government by saying you know what we're not certain that Karzai is a good partner for us.

And the Obama administration sent in James Carville, Democrat party operative, in order to handle the campaign of Karzai's opponent. And then they express surprise when Karzai is trying to cut side deals with the remaining warlords and regional powers in Afghanistan in order to make certain he has a power base if the Americans pull the rug out from underneath him.

I mean its really unusual that this administration is so quick to criticize the Bush administration when they are really destabilizing the regime in Afghanistan in a fundamental way."

DEFENDERS OF THE CONSTITUTION

Depending on your perspective, the Oath Keepers are either strident defenders of liberty or dangerous peddlers of paranoia.

In the age of town halls, talk radio and tea parties, middle ground of opinion is hard to find.
Launched in March by Las Vegan Stewart Rhodes, Oath Keepers bills itself as a nonpartisan group of current and retired law enforcement and military personnel who vow to fulfill their oaths to the Constitution.

More specifically, the group's members, which number in the thousands, pledge to disobey orders they deem unlawful, including directives to disarm the American people and to blockade American cities. By refusing the latter order, the Oath Keepers hope to prevent cities from becoming "giant concentration camps," a scenario the 44-year-old Rhodes says he can envision happening in the coming years.

It's a Cold War-era nightmare vision with a major twist: The occupying forces in this imagined future are American, not Soviet.

"The whole point of Oath Keepers is to stop a dictatorship from ever happening here," Rhodes, a former Army paratrooper and Yale-trained lawyer, said in an interview with the Review-Journal. "My focus is on the guys with the guns, because they can't do it without them.

"We say if the American people decide it's time for a revolution, we'll fight with you."

That type of rhetoric has caught the attention of groups that track extremist activity in the United States.

THE GAY AGENDA AND OBAMA'S UN-AMERICANISM

My colleagues are producing work that prompts me to share with you their observations on Obama and his kind. Bookworm and Reluctant Scribe's astute observations on where we are in a darkening storm gathering over our nation.

First, from Bookworm -- Is Barack Obama un-American?

Bookworm, an attorney by profession, builds an indisputable case, fact by fact, laying out an argument that brings her to an unalterable conclusion:

He has subordinated America. America is no longer the symbol of liberty around the world. She’s just another nation and, worse, one whose leader, by temperament and political belief, has more reverence for dictatorships than democracies. In other words, when he deals with the world outside America’s borders, he has again denied America’s essence, which is as the symbol of and standard-bearer for freedom.
If every one of Obama’s desires and actions is antithetical to America’s core essence, then it is reasonable to say that he is anti-American. He’s not merely making little changes around the edges, smoothing away rough spots, augmenting existing traits, or getting rid of ugly cankers. Instead, both at home and abroad, he’s trying to destroy America’s essence, that commitment to liberty that makes her unique in this world, and that makes her uniquely American.

You be the jury. Read the entire piece. Examine the evidence. And if you come to the same conclusion, with what crime do you charge Obama? Found guilty, what punishment does he deserve?

Frankly, if it weren't for the incessant effort to encroach on my family, my culture, my freedoms and liberties, I wouldn't care tuppence whether two guys want to make out or whether two gals want to set up house together. You want to pervert the normal order of things for yourselves? Go ahead. Knock yourselves out. Just don't tell me I have to accept it as normal and embrace it as a valid social order. It isn't either of those. And don't make it a mandatory part of my kids' education.

Don't be taking your perverse jackhammer to the moral bedrock that is my family, or to the cultural bedrock that is this nation's family.

DOCTOR ZERO: IN DEFENSE OF RUSH LIMBAUGH

I wish I had written what follows. It's exactly right in so many ways and on so many levels. But given that I didn't (write it), it is eminently worthy of reprinting here. It appears today at Hot Air, promoted from GreenRoom to HotAir.com. Wise choice.

I give you now Doctor Zero's thoughts on the matter:

Almost every column written in defense of Rush Limbaugh over the last few days, following the vicious campaign to slander him as a racist, has included a statement along the lines of “Rush is rich, powerful, intelligent, and articulate, so he can take care of himself, and he’ll be just fine.” I don’t mean to disparage the authors of these sentiments, but I must disagree. I know the most popular conservative broadcaster in America doesn’t need some anonymous guest-author on a blog to defend him, but I’m going to do it anyway, without the slightest reservation due to his wealth and power.

Much strife and misery has been visited on this country by the idea that the rights and prerogatives of the rich and successful are diminished by their fortunes… that we should feel no remorse about seizing their property, or insulting their honor, because they’ll still be comfortably rich at the end of the day. We have become much too relaxed about laughing off vile slander, because the target can nurse his wounded soul from the plush accommodations of a West Palm Beach mansion. Honor is as valuable to the millionaire as to the pauper.

I’ll probably never be part of a consortium that purchases a football team, but I understand what it means to watch a dream bleed to death. My hopes and ambitions may be smaller than Rush Limbaugh’s, but they have exactly the same value to me. Whether those dreams are carved from pixels, paper, or platinum, they are equally priceless. It requires only a drop of the moral imagination utterly lacking in the people who slandered Limbaugh to guess what it feels like, when a man whose life revolves around words and ideas sees his dreams boiled away by words he didn’t speak, and ideas he has never held.

The events of the past week were about more than simply thwarting Limbaugh’s desire to buy into a football team. There was the naked greed of parasites like Al Sharpton, desperate to maintain his relevance in a world that has wisely stripped him of the power to destroy a man’s life with a phony rape allegation, or launch murderous riots. There was the blind personal hatred of Limbaugh, by people who long ago tired of watching him rewrite their plans for the part of America that refuses to submit to them. And, of course, this was the latest offensive in a bitter war against the ideas that Limbaugh has long served, as their most cheerful and effective defender. Limbaugh’s enemies in that war are angry because they’re frightened. They’re frightened because all of their estimates and projections said they should have been able to claim victory by now.

Backed up against the wall, and forced to admit the most damaging quotes used against Limbaugh were forgeries, his accusers are left stammering that he’s simply too “divisive” to be involved with ownership of an NFL team. What a bleak example of the totalitarian mindset! If you disagree with the approved ideas distributed by the collective, you’re “divisive” and unfit for membership in polite society. I suppose Limbaugh is saturated with divisiveness particles, whose half-life will extend for decades, but the warning to others is clear: rid yourselves of those “divisive” ideas and get with the program.

Perhaps the President could direct one of his many czars to prepare a list of certified “divisive” positions, and which aspects of society are closed to offenders. It would save people like David Checketts, the investor seeking to purchase the Rams, the time he wasted inviting Limbaugh to join his consortium. Imagine how much more convenient it would have been for Checketts, if he could have pulled up a handy whitehouse.gov web page and learned Rush was too divisive to be minority owner of a football team! The Homeland Security spectrum of terrorist alert levels could be used to measure divisiveness ratings. I’d be willing to give them an email address, so the system could send me a warning message when I approach Level Orange. What do you suppose the divisiveness rating for someone like Jeremiah Wright would be? He built a tidy personal fortune from his Ministry of Hate – would he be allowed to buy a stake in an NFL team?

Only the most gullible dupes, and people who rely on CNN for “news”, seriously think Rush Limbaugh is a racist. The dishonesty and cynicism behind dimwitted assertions that he wanted to buy an NFL team to role-play the life of a plantation owner is breathtaking. His accusers don’t really think he harbors some elusive racist demon, which he suppresses just long enough to become friends with Walter Williams, Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, and Tony Dungy. The people who read this crap should be at least as angry over the insult to their intelligence as Limbaugh is about the insult to his honor. This kind of weapons-grade stupidity is one of the things America can no longer afford.

Limbaugh’s accusers want him burned at the stake for the crime of effective conservatism, not the racism they were so eager to lie about last week. The American public should think long and hard about which side of this ideological struggle should be on trial. Rush Limbaugh’s ideas did not produce a titanic deficit, double-digit unemployment, and global adversaries who can barely stop laughing at our President long enough to pretend they respect him. His ideas did not put disciples of Saul Alinsky, Chairman Mao, and Alex Jones in positions of power. His words are not deployed to conceal hundreds of billions in stolen “stimulus” money, thousand-page Mad Lib bills riddled with blank paragraphs, and massive offenses against individual liberty. His EIB Network endorses $1500 Sleep Number beds, not “saved or created” jobs costing half a million bucks apiece. Unlike the “Hope and Change” Administration, he doesn’t spend his three hours on the radio each weekday listing all the things you will no longer be allowed to do. He is the champion of ideas so powerful that his enemies fear the merest taste of them.

Rush Limbaugh has raised his voice in defense of freedom countless times over the years. I’m happy to exercise my freedom to raise my voice in defense of him. I invite you to do the same. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t “need” it. He deserves it. All of us do. There is little we can do to reverse the injustice of the St. Louis Rams affair, but we can make it up to Rush by giving him the chance to deliver a hell of a show on the day after Election Day, next year. If CNN is foolish enough to continue employing cretins like Rick Sanchez by then, all of them should be turning in a very enjoyable performance on that day, as well.

MIZZ MOMBASSA "SCHOOLS" US ABOUT OBAMA

On Friday, I posted a screen shot of an article which appeared in the Kenyan newspaper Standard in which writer (reporter?) and self-described media consultant Judy Munyinyi-Mumo wrote a sentence that zipped quickly thru the blogosphere among those who want answers about Obama's birthplace, (and detractors who just want the whole damn sorry business to go away):

"It seems Barack Hussein Obama, President of the United States of America (via a sleepy village in Kenya called Nyang’oma K’Ogelo) can do no wrong."

In a follow-on piece published today, Munyinyi-Mumo revisited the issue after her report resulted in an avalanche:

"Following my article last week on whether Barack Obama deserved to get the Nobel Peace Prize, my inbox was inundated with emails from American readers seeking to know whether I have proof that Obama was really born in Kenya.

If he was born in Kenya, they theorise, he is therefore not entitled to claim American citizenship and the presidency of the United States.

I could not help laughing at those emails, most displaying a naivetÈ (sic) and lack of understanding of this sentence from last week’s article: "It seems Barack Hussein Obama, President of the United States of America (via a sleepy village in Kenya called Nyang’oma K’Ogelo) can do no wrong."

Pardon me, but the way she worded the sentence left open a Grand Canyon of opportunity for misinterpretation. Purposely? Hoping the piece would get widespread play? How else to put one's byline on the world stage? Ah well, no matter. With an almost audible sigh of disdain and exasperation, Mizz Mombassa today took to her keyboard one more time (sigh...) to educate us ignoramusses about the African facts of life.

"Let me explain how it works, America.

In Kenya, and many other African countries, a child belongs not just to the mother and father, but to the extended family: grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins.

Amongst the Luo, this concept of community is particularly strong, which is why even though Obama is fully American, to his relatives in Kenya he is fully Luo. He is a son of Kogelo. That is his home.

In patrilineal Kenya, everybody has a ‘real’ home, which is where the father/husband originally comes from, and not just where they have chosen to live and work.

I, for instance, have lived and worked in Nairobi all my life but my children will grow up knowing that home is the dry and dusty area North-East of Nairobi called Kitui.

Obama doesn’t have to have been born in Kenya to get the privilege of calling Kogelo home. And even though, legally, the Government of Kenya does not recognise him as Kenyan that is of little consequence to his family here.

So, was Barack H Obama Jr born in Kenya? No. But believe it or not, the President of the most powerful nation in the world is still from a sleepy little village in Kenya called Kogelo."

She then authoritatively blows off the most critical violation to our Constitution in history with her confident pronouncement that proof of Obama's US citizenship has been made. The glaring fact that Obama's father was an African and not American, which automatically disqualifies our "president" as a Natural Born Citizen, escapes her attention.

Further, she avers that the matter of Obama's birthplace has been put to rest by the ultimate and indisputable authorities... "your own government!" Hey, I'm relieved. How about you? The foxes guarding the henhouse have declared Obama, without a shred of substantiation, valid. There! Proof! End of story, you idiots! Matter settled. Get over it.

"To all the skeptics out there, here is one inescapable fact. There was a Barack Hussein Obama born in Kenya. He is the father of your president. He was a black man from black Africa. The name and the person Barack Hussein Obama Sr, came from a sleepy village in Kenya called Nyang’oma Kogelo.

And here is another inescapable truth: the fact that Barack Hussein Obama Jr was born in Hawaii has already been proved beyond doubt by your own government. He is a US citizen. His election a year ago and his popularity around the world baffled many Americans but the fact remains he is entitled to be president. Get over it, you conspiracy theorists and people of dubious intelligence who cannot accept your country is led by a person of African descent. Obama has been examined under your microscope for at least two years. If there was proof to the contrary, wouldn’t you have found it by now?"

What's evident to me is that Ms. Munyinyi-Mumo is a fellow traveler, a progressive who is sympathetic to and enamored of son-of Africa Obama, and his Marxist ideology.

The questions I posed are paraphrased thus:

• How can we create a better, more sustainable world? I believe I read somewhere that Americans consume over 50 per cent of all global resources, and they will need to lead the way in all spheres (military, scientific, political, and economic) to reduce the strain placed on our global ecosystem.

• Can President Obama succeed in changing America and thus the world? Will the Americans let him, I wonder? If the Americans cannot agree on something as fundamental as healthcare for all, something that even a poor nation like Kenya strives to provide for its citizens, can these most wasteful of human beings accept a change in lifestyle, even for their own good? Only time will tell.

I admire how Obama has dealt with the various circumstances and difficulties destiny has sent his way.

I've screen captured the article for your examination.

To Mizz "media consultant" Munyinyi-Mumo, we aren't as trusting of our government as you seem to be. And until Obama produces his records, all of them, America-loving skeptics will continue to question everything even remotely connected with his background. Get over it.

THE ISSUE OF STANDING IN A COURT OF LAW

Attorney Mario Apuzzo, who represents four plaintiffs challenging Obama to prove he is qualified under the Constitution to hold the office of president, has written a response on his website to a question posed by a reader:

"Why would a reputable attorney pursue eligibility litigation against our putative President, Barack Obama?"

Apuzzo touches on many points, but the one I want to show you is his argument about standing, and why any court that dismisses the case because a citizen plaintiff does not have standing is just plain wrong. Here. Read this...

The commentator then incorrectly states: "But the real issue for you is your client doesn't have standing to sue Congress to do their jobs. . . ." He only refers to Congress but I will assume that he also meant to include Obama.

This issue has been briefed by Obama, Congress and me and we are all waiting for the Court to decide it. My brief shows that the Constitution is a social compact or contract between the People and the Government which limits what the Government can and cannot do vis-a-vis the People. The People through the Constitution established for themselves a Constitutional Republic based on a representative form of government.

In a Constitutional Republic with such a form of government, the Government cannot govern the People unless it has the People's consent to govern them. Indeed, no government power can vest in any branch of government unless the People have consented to such vesting.

My clients are undoubtedly part of the People and they must give the Government their actual or imputed consent to be governed by it. Given the rules on how the Court is to decide the defendants' motion to dismiss the complaint/petition, the Court has to accept arguendo that Obama is not an Article II “natural born Citizen” and is therefore not eligible to be President because that is what our complaint factually alleges.

On the question of standing, let us examine through the lens of the Declaration of Independence how Obama and the Congress are affecting my clients’ lives:

Obama has refused to show that he meets the citizenship requirement of Article II, hence refusing to "Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good." Congress has allowed him to get away with it.

In refusing to prove that he is eligible for the Office of President, it is self-evident that Obama and those who blindly defend him have obstructed the "Administration of Justice." Congress has allowed him to get away with it.

Through his obstructive behavior, Obama has made my clients "dependent on his Will alone" and not on legitimately vested constitutional powers. Congress has allowed him to get away with it.

In wanting to replace American sovereignty with world consensus, “[h]e has combined with others to subject [my clients] to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our Laws. . .” Congress has allowed him to get away with it.

In giving or attempting to give to the Government ownership of the means of production (banking, automotive, health, environmental, and who knows what more in the future), he is attempting to alter or has “alter[ed] fundamentally the Forms of our Government[]. . .” My clients are compelled to live under such a radically transformed Government. Congress has allowed him to get away with it.

Hence, how can my clients not be personally injured if they are compelled to submit without their actual or imputed consent to the commands of a person who not being constitutionally eligible to be President has usurped power over their constitutional rights to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness?

Why should my freedom-loving clients be compelled to submit to such usurpation and tyranny? Why should not my clients have a judicial means to fight for and protect their unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? How can a "candid World" be “deaf to the Voice of Justice” and deny recognizing the real injury that my clients have suffered and continue to suffer? How can Congress turn a blind eye to such matters?

For these reasons, a reputable attorney, working to protect his clients’ unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, has every reason to diligently pursue litigation against Obama and Congress regarding the question of whether Obama is constitutionally eligible to be President and Commander in Chief of the Military.

Michele Bachmann (R-MN) on the Glenn Beck radio show in the second hour, says she's got breaking news about ACORN and the dots are connecting...

She tells Glenn's listeners, "We know the one way the banks could satisfy the requirements (ratings or score) under the CRA -- Community Reinvestment Act -- they could partner with ACORN to provide loans to poor people who couldn't afford them. Banks had to figure out some way to satisfy the government's demands... so payola! The banks, in order to be in compliance with the Federal Government would give money to ACORN in order to be in the good graces of the Feds."

She said some banks that collapsed did so because of the bad loans they were forced to write, like Citizens Bank of Boston, and others in particularly hard economically hit states like MA, Minnesota, Calif, NY.

Glenn asked her what comes next. She says "We have to demand an investigation".

But Glenn says "Wait! We're so frustrated, we have been demanding an investigation and we haven't gotten one!"

She said to take a cue from Barney Frank - if you want Congress' attention, you melt the phone lines.

David Brooks and other liberal media blowhards say they're the gatekeepers, but are now losing their power and are saying that Rush and Glenn are ineffective and can't do anything but melt the phones and no ones paying attention in Congress anyway.

Michele strongly urged everyone to call their representatives and tell them "You work for me. I'm your boss. Tell them 'Don't have the government take over health care and please defund ACORN, which has only been defunded until Oct 31st, the biggest trick on all the people. It was a huge CYA move for Congress.

WHAT??!!! The defunding for ACORN expires on Halloween?!!!

"Glenn, the 912 movement you instigated was a bigger deal than you know, but you have to keep up the pressure.

"Call your senators and reps every day! When you get up and brush your teeth and comb your hair, pick up the phone and make it part of your daily routine. Stay engaged. We have to make those phone calls now until the end of the year. It's why Pelosi wants me gone, why I'm on the top of her list to be gotten rid of, defeated."

Glenn then said he's got something planned that he'll announce in another month, but for now, " You tell your friends in Congress, they haven't seen anything yet. You wait until next year... they haven't seen anything."

She responded, "They need to know that by the American people who call and tell them, 'You DO NOT pass healthcare and you defund ACORN' and you tell them you want it done NOW!"

Glenn: "Do you think Americans know -- I talk to decent reporters and they say the politicians are saying 'These people - us - will go back to sleep soon... Lindsey Graham is a good example. He's running again in 2014 - he doesn't have a chance of winning again because of what he's doing now.

"Americans who feel their reps have betrayed the constitution and sold our children into a lifetime of servitude won't forget or forgive."

Michele Bachmann then said that a new coalition is coming together, "it is a huge tent sewn together with the parchment of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution."

And then, shocking Glenn and his staff with news they didn't know, she said,

"In one year's time, in a stunning move we've seen the Fed take over 30% of our private wealth - private business profits --

Glenn was incredulous. So was I. He asked her where that comes from.

"An economist from State University of AZ said we've seen the Fed own or control 30% of private business!"

She continued: " Another 18% will be taken over -- 48 % of America's private wealth -- with passage of healthcare reform.

And another 8 % with the climate bill -- cap and trade -- for a total of 66% of America's private wealth will be owned by the government! At that point Glenn, we are no longer a capitalist free market country. The federal government has already gotten control of 30% of private wealth..."

Michele Bachmann will be on Glenn's TV show later today to talk about what she's revealed about ACORN.

Our friend Lloyd Marcus, self described "Black Unhyphenated American" has a piece in today's American Thinker that addresses the sniping from the Left and the media to news that Rush Limbaugh is involved in the purchase of an NFL team.

"The liberal media and the Left have been attempting to silence Rush and other conservatives for years. Make no mistake about it, their latest bogus "Rush is a racist" campaign is another stealth attack on our freedom of speech. It is extremely important that lovers of freedom rally around Rush Limbaugh. Silencing Rush would be a major victory in their quest to silence and control us all."

Coincidentally, show producer ThirdWaveDave spent part of his evening last night watching Rush Limbaugh's address to last February's Conservative Political Action Committee gathering in Washington.

"I wanted to hear a part of this and ended up watching all 11 parts. It's an important speech."

Our country is under assault by domestic enemies on both sides of the political aisle by those who intend to strip us of our Constitutional rights. As Lloyd Marcus reminds us with considerable urgency:

WHEN IN THE COURSE OF HUMAN EVENTS...

Since doing a week-long series of interviews with the top five attorneys (and one plaintiff) who have active lawsuits challenging Obama to produce his birth certificate, medical and academic records, selective service info, etc., -- in other words, his background history -- to prove he is Constitutionally eligible to hold the office of President, I've gotten quite a bit of feedback. The issue is growing among Americans who are waking up to the fact that there is a communist revolution taking place in our government, perpetrated by Obama and his thugs.

I won't say that folks are starting to panic, but they are becoming alarmed and are asking questions. And the one they're most asking is "Who the hell is this Barack Obama, and where did he come from?"

One interested citizen wrote to tell me about his website and a video he produced showing evidence why he believes the birth certificate posted on a Leftist blogsite purporting to be that of Obama is a photoshopped fake.

Another website that's worth your visit is Eligibility Questions, which I've mentioned before. Dr. Paula Gordon has compiled a cold, objective and extensive collection of information that deserves your inspection. It is fascinating and you could easily spend hours there.

I've heard many say we're wasting our time pursuing Obama's qualifications to hold office. That there are many other Obama issues to which we should be focusing our energy. I couldn't disagree more strongly. And here's why -- we already know Obama's father was a British subject. That disqualifies him as a Natural Born Citizen right off the bat. We don't know if he ever renounced his dual citizenship, do we? Further, we really know nothing about his background, other than what he's told us in two books he supposedly wrote. At least one of those books is in serious question as to its' authorship. (See Jack Cahill's articles on this).

Obama is spending -- at last count -- more than a million dollars in legal fees to prevent his records from being made public. Why? What is he desperate to hide from his fellow Americans?

I could go on. There's much, much more. I'll leave you with the recommendations in this post, and urge you to draw your own conclusions. But before you do, show producer ThirdWaveDave asks us this:

Obama Spoofs: ‘SNL’ Chooses Unfunny Over Hurting Their Guy

Big Hollywood’s Alexander Marlow has written a spot-on assessment of “Saturday Night Live’s” skit about Obama. This video clip of Chevy Chase on CNN bolsters Marlow’s claim and reveals the truth behind “SNL’s” political parodies:

To paraphrase Groucho Marx, a child of five could improve on this immensely. Anyone could make these parodies of Obama funnier. Obama’s mannerisms, speech patterns, physical oddities (ears) etc. are ripe for satire. Add Michelle Obama and Joe Biden to the mix and it only gets better. The audience would be rolling in the aisles. Obama presents a comedy writer with the potential for endless comedic situations. Obama is a unique character who offers a buffet of satire, pregnant with possibilities.

But the folks at SNL know they can’t appear partisan by NOT parodying Obama, so they have to do something. They present a bland milquetoast version that gently mocks Obama. And they do it in the show’s opening segment, typically the strongest segment of the program, the attention-getter that sets the tone and hits you hard with the punch line “Live! From New York! It’s Saturday Night!”

Now they’re busted. Chevy Chase’s interview only serves to bolster Marlow’s case. In that CNN interview, Chevy Chase says his lampooning of President Gerald Ford was driven by his support for Jimmy Carter. And he makes no secret of the fact that SNL does this as standard operating procedure.

Chase: … And I certainly, obviously my leanings were Democratic and I wanted Carter in and I wanted [Ford] out and I figured look, we’re reaching millions of people every weekend, why not do it.

CNN: You mean to tell me in the back of your mind you were thinking, hey I want Carter …

Chase: Oh, yeah.

CNN: And I’m going to make him look bad.

Chase: Oh yeah. What do you think they’re doing now, you think they’re just doing this because Sarah’s funny? No, I think that the show is very much more Democratic and liberal-oriented, that they are obviously more for Barack Obama. [In the '70s], out of the Nixon era, and it was not unlikely that I might go that direction.

CNN: I talked to one political pundit who said, I think Chevy Chase cost Ford the presidency.

Chase: When you have that kind of a venue and power where you can reach so many millions of people and you’ve become a show that people watch, you know, you can affect a lot of people, and humor does it beautifully, because humor is perspective and has a way of making judgment calls. … So I think there was no question that it had major effect and in fact, in speaking with his family and then later him, and even reading some of his books … he felt so, too.”

This makes the case that SNL is manipulating their interpretation of Obama. They’re not doing it to be funny. They’re doing it to be able to say they’ve lampooned Obama. It’s political cover. It’s NBC.

AUTUMN - REFLECTIONS ON MY FAVORITE SEASON OF THE YEAR

Flame-colored leaves, baskets of juicy red apples that snap with each bite, football games, bright orange pumpkins, clear blue skies on crisp sunny days. The scrape of a rake combing leaves into a tidy pile, later to be plunged into by rosy cheeked children. Or set ablaze, bringing the scent of Fall wafting through the neighborhood. Baked beans and pies warming in the oven. Daytrips by car to leaf peep in the New Hampshire mountains. Our annual goodbye to Bar Harbor from the top of Cadillac Mountain.

Autumn.

On Boston's north shore, home in my younger years, workmen are hanging storm windows on summer cottages being closed up for the winter on Marblehead Neck. Chatting neighbors walk briskly by, their dogs scampering along, happy to explore. And the Atlantic Ocean surrounding this crook of high land where Marblehead fishermen fought the British in Revolutionary battles, sparkles sapphire blue in the afternoon sun. Down in the village of this snug little seaside town, boats are sailed in from their moorings to be hauled out dripping wet, while their owners, sipping cocktails, observe the harbor activity through walls of paned glass at a decades old brass and wood yacht club.

Lawn furniture, hosed off, is carted away for storage, while gardens that bloomed a floral profusion are already dormant, but for the mums. The best images I've collected in years worth of photo albums were taken in October.

Warm Indian summer days, sticky with the sweetness of apple cider and the bees that hover over it, transform into starry, hoarfrost nights. By Halloween, we could see our breath as we trundled about collecting candy goodies.

Revel in Idaho's version of Fall, thanks to Terresa and Garry Hamilton at The Noisy Room, who sent a riot of autumn foliage to this 27-year Floridian who's still a New England gal at heart. And here in Florida, it's hitting the 90's in record breaking temps...

PASSPORT, PASSPORT, WHO HAS OBAMA'S PASSPORT?

So here I am on a Saturday afternoon, following up on the week-long radio programs we did on the Obama Eligibility issue -- "Birther Week" -- in which we brought the five top attorneys involved in legal challenges to Obama's Constitutional eligibility to hold the office of President -- and I'm hitting some of the websites folks discussed during the programs.

And I find this...

It should be added that “Obama’s top terrorism and intelligence adviser, John O. Brennan, heads a firm that was cited in March for breaching sensitive files in the State Department’s passport office, according to a State Department Inspector General’s report released this past July.

“The security breach, first reported by the Washington Times and later confirmed by State Department spokesman Sean McCormack, involved a contract employee of Brennan’s firm, The Analysis Corp., which has earned millions of dollars providing intelligence-related consulting services to federal agencies and private companies.

“During a State Department briefing on March 21, 2008, McCormack confirmed that the contractor had accessed the passport files of presidential candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John McCain, and that the inspector general had launched an investigation.

“Sources who tracked the investigation tell Newsmax that the main target of the breach was the Obama passport file, and that the contractor accessed the file in order to ‘cauterize’ the records of potentially embarrassing information.

“ ‘They looked at the McCain and Clinton files as well to create confusion,’ one knowledgeable source told Newsmax. ‘But this was basically an attempt to cauterize the Obama file.’

“At the time of the breach, Brennan was working as an unpaid adviser to the Obama campaign.

” ‘This individual’s actions were taken without the knowledge or direction of anyone at The Analysis Corp. and are wholly inconsistent with our professional and ethical standards,’ Brennan’s company said in a statement sent to reporters after the passport breach was made public.

“The passport files include ‘personally identifiable information such as the applicant’s name, gender, social security number, date and place of birth, and passport number,’ according to the inspector general report.

“The files may contain additional information including ‘original copies of the associated documents,’ the report added. Such documents include birth certificates, naturalization certificates, or oaths of allegiance for U.S.-born persons who adopted the citizenship of a foreign country as minors.”

“The State Department Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a 104-page report on the breach last July. Although it is stamped ‘Sensitive but Unclassified,’ the report was heavily redacted in the version released to the public, with page after page blacked out entirely.”

“A key witness in a federal probe into passport information stolen from the State Department was fatally shot in front of a District church, the Metropolitan Police Department said yesterday.

“Lt. Quarles Harris Jr., 24, who had been cooperating with a federal investigators, was found late Thursday night slumped dead inside a car, in front of the Judah House Praise Baptist Church in Northeast, said Cmdr. Michael Anzallo, head of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

“Cmdr. Anzallo said a police officer was patrolling the neighborhood when gunshots were heard, then Lt. Harris was found dead inside the vehicle, which investigators would describe only as a blue car.

“Emergency medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

“City police said they do not know whether his death was a direct result of his cooperation with federal investigators.

“We don’t have any information right now that connects his murder to that case,” Cmdr. Anzallo said.

“Police say a “shot spotter” device helped an officer locate Lt. Harris.

“A State Department spokeswoman yesterday declined to comment, saying the investigation into the passport fraud is ongoing.

“The Washington Times reported April 5 that contractors for the State Department had improperly accessed passport information for presidential candidates Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain, which resulted in a series of firings that reached into the agency’s top ranks.

“One agency employee, who was not identified in documents filed in U.S. District Court, was implicated in a credit-card fraud scheme after Lt. Harris told federal authorities he obtained “passport information from a co-conspirator who works for the U.S. Department of State.” “

There is a possibility that the breaches of the passport files associated with the “credit-card fraud scheme” were a cover for or associated with the breaches of the passport files by the employee of Brennan’s Analysis Corp. This certainly at least should be looked into.

The noose, might we say, is getting tighter? Oh, but that would be raaacist, wouldn't it...?

The first gut reaction, when he found out that this little man-child in Chicago has not done diddly-squat got the Peace Prize, and Clinton's out there, (doing Clinton impression) "My God, I got my Library and Massage Parlor. I even scored $2 million stimulus money for that thing. Did you see that yesterday, Limbaugh? I got it. I got my global initiative. I've fleeced people for billions and billions of dollars under the premise of world peace and, what? I get slapped again all because semen on a dress. They just have no respect."

Pure Rush.

Upon hearing the Nobel Peace Prize Committee's decision Kool-Aid accelerated the introduction of a product already in the works: Barack Obama's Ego Juice. It'll be available in stores everywhere this December in time for the president's trip to Oslo to accept it.

Pure Gold.

Daley is sitting there in Chicago saying, "What the hell happened to me? I go over there to Copenhagen, I bring Barack along, he's my ace-in-the-hole, we're going to get the Olympics, I'm going to be able to have some of my buds get rid of the slums, like Valerie Jarrett, I'm gonna have all kinds of people getting rich because of me, I'm going to be in power forever here."

And they get shut out with 18 votes in the first round, totally embarrassed. Obama was a hindrance. And then the very next week -- in fact, exactly one week -- do you realize it was just last Friday that that debacle in Copenhagen happened. Today, Obama gets the Peace Prize. He gets the money, he gets the accolades, and Daley is sitting there in Chicago, saying, "What the hell?"

Pure comedic relief every day at Noon eastern from the southern command in sunny South Florida. A bright spot in our day.

THEY KNEW ALL ALONG HE WASN'T ELIGIBLE

Researcher Dr. Paula Gordon, author of Eligibility Questions. com, called my attention to something that attorney Mario Apuzzo and lead plaintiff Charles Kerchner said during my radio program last night about the Constitutional eligibility of both John McCain and Barack Obama. Something that I found of great interest. Evidently I wasn't the only one. Today she writes to me in an email:

I have now listened to all of your programs this week. Great contribution to efforts to get to the truth of these matters and to keep up with legal developments.

FYI! The last few minutes of last night’s program (ed. the referenced portion comes at 105 minutes into the 120 minute program) seemed to me to be extremely significant. I suspect that you were well aware of that as well. John Charlton has been posting on matters relating to Senate Resolution 511 as well as Linda Melin. Thought you might be interested in seeing this e-mail that I just sent to him urging him (and Linda Melin) to listen to last night’s program.

I followed the links she included, and one led to another until I got to this, which is the golden nugget, the key that explains how this usurper came to be in the White House. They knew all along he was ineligible. And they laid their groundwork well ahead of the election. Who are "they"? You'll find out.

Oh. my. God. Pour yourself a stiff one. Then read this excerpt of a post written yesterday by John Charlton at The Post & Email:

Now if one were to forge a conspiracy to get an ineligible candidate in office, as President of the United States, and were considering how to eliminate any possible legal challenge to this usurpation, it is obvious that one would have to carefully examine the D. C. Code, which has specific provisions for challenges regarding usurpation.

That is why this little know provision, of Section 1541, quoted from the acts of the 56th Congress, p. 1420, is so important.

If the candidate who ran for the other major party was eligible for office, then he could as relator immediately bring action in D.C. court against the usurper, on the eventuality that the Joint Session of Congress would unconstitutionally confirm the usurper as President.

But if the opposition candidate was also not eligible by the same requirement in Article II, Section i, paragraph 5, of the U.S. Constitution, then he could not challenge his opponent with this statute, since he would have the same defect in law.

Other requirements for such a hypothetical conspiracy are as follows:

1. Collusion of the Main Stream Media, to run flak against discussion of natural born citizen requirement.

2. Collusion of members of Congress to disregard requirements of Article II, Section i, paragraph 5 of the U.S. Constitution.

It is clear that only a joint action from the centers of power of both parties could have managed such a conspiracy. And that means that citizens should be investigating the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee actions prior to 2008.

I had posted the video below yesterday (Friday), but am popping it back up because I've added this interview with Gerald Celente by Tim Barello in the Examiner. You must read it. But be warned. I first heard of Celente on a Glenn Beck show. I researched Celente and found that his trend predictions are eerily accurate.

In this vid he tells us Wall Street is a Mafioso's game: Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson, and Obama have replaced Gambini, Afatelli, Luigi, and Malovitti. The stimulus and bailouts, though disguised eloquently, are little more than a taxpayer cover-up of criminal, generational theft. The crooks and liars make the rules, and revolution is coming to the United States in 2012.

President Barack Obama is prepared to accept some Taliban involvement in Afghanistan's political future and appears inclined to send only as many more U.S. troops as needed to keep al-Qaida at bay, a senior administration official said Thursday.

The sharpened focus by Obama's team on fighting al-Qaida above all other goals, while downgrading the emphasis on the Taliban, comes in the midst of an intensely debated administration review of the increasingly unpopular eight-year-old war.

Two nights ago, Chicago-area blogger Marathon Pundit John R. (who does a great job keeping readers posted about Chicago shenanigans) emailed us that fellow Illinois blogger Backyard Conservative Anne Leary had unexpectedly run into the non-repentant Weather Underground founder-cum-bomb-building-domestic-terrorist-cum-Vietnam War protester Bill Ayers at Reagan National Airport.

Ayers, as you may recall, has been revealed to be the real author of Obama's "memoir" Dreams From My Father by investigative journalist and documentary film maker Jack Cashill. We interviewed Cashill about that very subject last Thursday night on my radio program.

Marathon Pundit included the link to Backyard Conservative's account of the serendipitous meeting with Ayers, which I then sent to Cashill with a note "Thought you'd enjoy this..."

He did, and took the time to write Anne (Backyard Conservative) a note complimenting her on her "brass".

The piece is well worth your read, but here's the take-way -- the delicious part of it -- quite possibly the straw that broke Bill Ayers' back, astutely observed by this commenter:

Is Ayers realizing that the best book that he could ever write helped create a president who is now turning out to be the worst president in history? Is Ayers inner anti-war activist beginning to leak out, is he starting to have flashbacks to the 60’s? Is he reliving some bad drug trips nowadays?

Think about it. Bill Ayers cut his teeth on the anti-war movement and protesting Vietnam, so much so that he resorted to violence to oppose it. He skates on a technicality and is emboldened to become Mr. Education, a forum where he can now spout his anti-Americanism and inflict damage in covert ways. He writes, edits and gains skills as a writer, and gets tenure at a university–a liberal ticket to ride.

Fast forward now to how he likely wrote Obama’s book. Back then, Obama was a schluppy state senator. The book just happens to become part of the whole persona that is built up into the “O.” The “O” gets elected president, throws you under the bus and is now faced with the same decisions regarding war and troop decisions that Ayers protested back in the Vietnam era. Not only that, he may make the same decisions Ayers protested AGAINST.

In summary, how can Bill Ayers reconcile this within himself right now? He is a man torn between two paradigms–the vicious anti-war protestor and the eloquent writer who helped build a president. Caught in the middle of this dilemma is Mr. Barack Obama. It is no wonder that GEN McChrystals request has sat since August without action–part of the “deal” surrounding Ayers staying quiet probably involved something like, “If you ever repeat what happened during Vietnam, then it is going to be really hard for me to stay silent about this book.”

Bill Ayers is a man torn between his convictions–and that is a man who wants to talk. His next book is going to be “The Bus That Couldn’t Roll Over Me.”

IT'S NOT ABOUT HEALTH CARE AT ALL

You know, I get exasperated when I see all these talking heads on TV discussing the merits and points of this sham of waste, fraud and abuse "health" care reform when:

1. It is not about health care at all -- it is about a socialist plan to control our lives, cradle to grave. It's a masquerade. There's a reason why Obama et al are trying to rush thru legislation that the people do not want. Our gut is telling us "this doesn't smell right". Obama and his pals know that if they don't ram this thing through, Americans will get wise. And they're right. We are. We know we have the best medical care in the world - it's why the rest of the world comes to us when their socialized health care programs fail them. Americans are looking at each other over this rush to reform our health care and going "WTF?"

States across the nation are enacting legislation to assert their sovereignty and protect themselves against a fascistic Fed that is interfering well beyond the Fed government's Constitutional authority. "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." (10th Amendment)

2. If it's about addressing the waste and fraud, why wasn't it done years ago? The facts show that the worst government run program is Medicare! Both Medicare and Medicaid are hundreds of millions of dollars in the red. Why? Fraud and waste. ER care costs are the highest in the world - because Federal mandates FORCE hospitals that take Fed dollars to care for everyone who shows up. That's CRAZY! Where does the Fed get the authority to do that? Congress? No. Why? Congress only gets to admininster 18 things. It says so in the Constitution, Art. 1, Sec. 8.

3. All these brilliant minds argue the finer points of "public option, blah blah blah" while completely blowing past the fact that the federal government has no business being in the business of administering health care, or auto manufacturing, or banking, or anything else for that matter. Cash for Clunkers worked really well, didn't it? Amtrak, the Postal Service, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac... pick a government program -- any program -- and you'll see a stinking cesspool of waste, fraud, abuse, mismanagement, malfeasance. Corruption. It goes on and on.

4. The government -- which when you get right down to it, is really just a roomful of functionaries making decisions about our lives, and bureaucrats who mostly inefficiently carry them out -- is the most corrupt entity of all, and totally unaccountable to anyone anymore. Congress won't listen to us. House speaker Nancy Pelosi and Obama have told us they WILL pass health care reform, despite 56% of Americans saying we don't want it. Oh, it might not have all the bells and whistles on it --- yet. But those sneaky SOBs will tack them on as amendments to other bills that have nothing to do with "health care reform".

Pelosi et al don't care what we want, or don't want. Why? Because it's not about administering better health care to everyone. (And by the way, where is it written that we all have a "right" to health care?) It's about their control over our lives. It's about tyranny.

That's why millions of Americans are taking to the streets in protest.

Karl Marx said: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need". Sound like communism? It is. Under a communist system, every person "contributes" to society to the "best of his ability" and consumes from society in proportion to his needs, regardless of how much he has contributed. We have long been sliding into socialism. This so-called "health care reform" will seal the deal. And take us into a full-blown Marxist society, the antithesis of capitalism. Look it up.

5. Health care providers are killing -- and kidding -- themselves if they think arguing over the details will save their freedom to practice medicine. They don't fight back with the biggest weapon they have: lobbying their representatives to keep their hands off that which the Constitution does NOT allow. The "health care" details are just a distraction. (Here, let's keep them busy arguing the points...) Excuse me?

Health Care professionals should be telling Congress to get the hell out of this. Butt out! Take a hike! Congress needs to be reminded by informed citizens -- and that includes health care professionals -- that what these elected representatives are doing violates the Constitution which, last time I looked, was our national operating document. Owner's manual. Schematic diagram.

The schools long ago stopped teaching what's in the Constitution and what it means. I know. I participated as a judge in a Brevard County high school student essay competition in which juniors and seniors were asked to write about the Constitution. It was pathetic - and scary. One student wrote that the Constitution was written "to control the people." OMG! Control the people!!! Another wrote about the TWO branches of government. I gave all the essays a FAIL. It was one of the most discouraging and depressing things I've done. Seriously. If this is what our best and brightest can do, we are so screwed. They are the future!

Imagine the ignorance! Now imagine how easily these kids -- soon to be adults -- can and will be led like clueless lambs by a government that already does violence to the principles in our operating document... hell, how many people of our generation and our kids can tick off all 18 powers authorized to Congress? How about nine? Criminy, give me three!!!

How many citizens know that the Constitution was written to LIMIT a central government? Its authors understood what tyranny was, and so wrote a pact they all signed to hopefully prevent it from ever happening again. Small. Limited in power.

Ben Franklin, when asked "What kind of government have you given us?" answered "A Republic, if you can keep it". Because it comes with a catch: it only will work if people know what's in it and are constantly vigilant to safeguard and protect those principles. Author Thomas Jefferson warned, "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." Who's paying attention to it these days? Congress? That's a joke. The executive branch (Obama)? He's working to destroy it. The courts? The liberal courts? I give you Roe v Wade. Kelo v. New London. Case made.

We've ignored our operating document at our peril... just look at the bloated government we have as a result. We've ignored our responsibility to stay informed and engaged. The nation's watchdog -- the press -- has not only let us down, they've become Pravda. More on that in a minute.

Most Americans don't understand, don't know. They get bogged down in the details of "public option", and never look up to see that the overarching principle is completely ignored. It's a simple question, really. "Is what the government -- Obama -- Congress -- the Courts -- doing constitutional?" Define why. Show how this aligns with what our national owner's manual says. When your car's oil warning light comes on, what do you do? Or a better example: when your brake warning light illuminates, it gets your attention. You know you've got a problem. You might not be able to stop. You could careen into a wall. Crash. Die.

Well, our national brake warning light is on. And those who understand what that might mean, who have read the owner's manual, are screaming "Check the brakes! Pull over! Stop!!!"

And the media? The so-called "government watchdogs"? They are the government's lapdogs. Hell, they're not going to tell us what's going on. They laid down with the corruptocrats ages ago. Lazy, uninspired, saturated with the shallow, the vapid, the "celebrity", they're feeding from the hand that owns them. They're in with those who will control our lives, and health care is the crown jewel. Does anyone -- besides a handful of talkers like Judge Andrew Napolitano and Glenn Beck -- point out that all this health care, TARP, Stimulus, etc. is extra constitutional? That "health care" and Cap and Tax are dictatorial and so damaging to our liberty, our rights, and our -- wait for it... Constitution. Passage of either or both measures will seal our doom. And extinguish our freedom.

Wiser men -- and women -- who built this nation, fought for her, and even fought and died for freedom for people in other lands, understood and cautioned us. They lie in Flanders Field.

I'll leave you with this final thought from Ronald Reagan, not a perfect man, but one who "got it". It's the quote that I chose to symbolize my blogsite when I created it, and can be found in the header above, just below the name of this site: "The Radio Patriot":

Editor Clark Hoyt of the New York Times (the editor who quashed reporter Stephanie Strom's investigation into ACORN last September with the help of ACORN whistle blower Anita Moncrief, during Obama's presidential campaign) says that the paper was “slow off the mark,” and blamed “insufficient tuned-in-ness to the issues that are dominating Fox News and talk radio.” Yep. THAT Clark Hoyt.

So in their wisdom, the editors at the august Grey Lady said last week that they would now assign an editor to monitor opinion media and brief them frequently on bubbling controversies.

Editor Bill Keller declined to identify who that editor is -- if one even exists -- saying he wanted to spare that person “a bombardment of e-mails and excoriation in the blogosphere.”

An unnamed editor. They won't tell us who it is lest that person be "excoriated" so much they might... jump from a top floor NYT building window!

So if the NYT won't name the editor, we will! We're having such fun with it, we're inviting you to join the effort.

It didn't take long. They cannot stand it.

Sarah Palin's new 400-page memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life" not due out until Nov. 17th, has already taken the #1 slot at Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble bestseller lists yesterday. (Don't you love the title? Going Rogue. Heh... )

In a tit-for-tat attack from the Left, Politico pens a poison piece today about Sarah Palin's book collaborator Lynn Vincent.

I say tit-for-tat because they hate that the revelation that Obama did not write his book "Dreams from My Father" as he claimed, has been confirmed.

And the Obama supporters are desperate to find some crap to sling to neutralize, defend and protect their boy, the jug-eared one.

It was investigative journalist Jack Cashill who presented forensic evidence that it was unrepentant terrorist and Weather Underground founder Bill Ayers who wrote the book. That evidence was further confirmed this week when the book "Barack and Obama: A Marriage" by Christopher Andersen hit the bookshelves.

You may recall that Obama claimed he really didn't know Bill Ayers. Ooops. To quote a certain congressman, Mr. Obama, "YOU LIE!"

It's like I was saying in the post below this one. The Left has an agenda: destroy the Right.

Why are newspapers failing?

Content. Lack of objectivity, accountability. Distrust of the news that's "fit to print". Propaganda shills for a liberal agenda. Shoddy reporting that's either lazy or deliberately fits a liberal agenda. Or both.

The New York Times et al are U.S. versions of Pravda. Left-leaning, secularist newspapermen and TV news producers gatekeep and slant information.

Examples abound. See for yourself. Check out Newsbusters or Media Mythbusters, two online outlets that track media reports.

The fringe - formerly known as mainstream - media long ago stopped doing their job as government watchdogs. There are so many stories of Congressional corruption out there it literally makes us sick. Name a senator, and I can tell you how dirty their hands are. Point out a Congressman, give me ten minutes, and I'll dig up irrefutable dirt on him or her. Crack open an ACORN, open the doors to the White House. Highly trafficked and ethical bloggers and conservative talk radio hosts are doing it every day. Digging. Filing FOIA requests. Following the trails. Researching and matching up the results - the facts - with "Words. Just words."

Is it any wonder the new media (bloggers, conservative talk radio) have overtaken the increasingly irrelevant legacy media? We're doing the job the left-leaning media ceased doing a long time ago. Thanks to online news sites and talk radio, many in America are now aware and recognize the glaring discrepancies, the corruption cover-ups, and coordinated assaults on our Constitution.

Here's one American's observation:

"Since a vigilant media was absent, the corruption of ACORN has been allowed to flourish unchecked until the recent reporting not by newspapers (which as a group totally ignored it), but by 2 20-somethings, a website operator, and Glenn Beck on Fox News.

Newspapers haven't provided original, in-depth reporting and analysis on anything that shines a negative light on anything liberal in 40 years.

Professional journalistic standards = oxymoron of the week (or maybe month or even year)."

The people who have benefited from a supine, compliant "watchdog" press -- Congress, current and previous Administrations, the Left -- are panicked. Their bedmates, their PR machines/house organs are going under financially. Ack! What to do!!!???

Lee Cary at American Thinker (a reputable on-line journal doing the job the legacy media....) tells us what the cretins in Congress are up to to save their mouthpieces. Here's the "good news" (bold face emphasis mine):

Last week a congressional committee heard testimony on the future of newspapers and the proposed H.R. 3620. Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) chairs the House Joint Economic Committee (JEC). The JEC met on September 24 to hear testimony from industry experts concerning the “The Future of Newspapers: The impact on the Economy and Democracy.”

OK, at this point, I'm asking myself who's on this House Joint Economic Committee? Two clicks later, I know. Here. See for yourself. A lovely bunch.

This chick Carolyn Maloney introduced H.R. 3620 (Newspaper Revitalization Act) in the House. Where does she get the Constitutional authority to do this?

She describes it as “a bill which will enable local newspapers to take advantage of non-profit status as a way to preserve their place in communities nationwide.” (Read the three-page bill here.)

Here are several quotes from Maloney and from three of the witnesses who appeared before her committee:
“Journalists play a critical role in monitoring the activities of individuals and institutions that are supposed to be working in the public interest…[T]hey provide a ‘civic alarm system.’ The absence of a vigilant media may even allow corruption to flourish unchecked.” Opening Remarks, Rep. Maloney

“While online news sources and citizen journalists certainly add perspective to the news, very few provide original, in-depth reporting and analysis, and even fewer ascribe to the same professional journalism standards…The creators of valuable content cannot survive without direct compensation from those who use their creative work.” John Sturm, President and CEO, Newspaper Association of America
“The question that we now face is whether there ought to be changes in law and policy to provide support for journalism not as a special favor to the news media, but to advance the general interest in an informed public…[T]he press has not been regarded, and should not be regarded, as just another industry. Government has sought to advance it because a democratic political system cannot function without diverse, free, and independent sources of news….

Increasingly, the production of news will require subsidy, and the answer is really from where and under what conditions that subsidy will come...To facilitate that development [of nonprofit support of journalism] Congress should seek to remove any legal obstacles that may stand in the way of newspapers receiving tax-exempt support or becoming nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations themselves.” Paul Starr, Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University
One lone voice among the witnesses offered a partial dissent.
“Newspapers are more than partly to blame. Like other legacy industries before them, newspapers let a generation of opportunities slip through their fingers – from E-Bay, to Google, to Realtor.com to Monster.com. The industry is running out of options, through I believe some remain…So should we care whether newspapers survive? Perhaps not. Typewriters have come and gone. But I believe we do have a stake as citizens in having reporters who are independent, who work fulltime, and who go out and gather news, not just talk about it, and who try to get the faces and the content right.” Tom Rosenstiel, Director, Per Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism
As more and more newspapers circle the financial drain, will we witness additional federal government efforts to keep the ink and paper industry alive?

OK, what can you do about it? What should you do about it?
