John Mayer is 'fessing up to his playboy ways, calling himself a "jerk" in an upcoming interview. Mayer has a celebrity black book that includes Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Minka Kelly and Jessica Simpson, whom he famously equated to "crack cocaine" and "sexual napalm" in a March 2010 Playboy interview. And just about all those relationships ended with Mayer looking like the bad guy, gaining him the skeazy rep of Hollywood's serial playboy. There's even a Swift song called "Dear John" that seemingly fleshes out exactly the kind of guy he was, though she denies that the song was actually written about him. PHOTOS: Taylor Swift is never, ever getting back together with ... "I was just a jerk," the "Speak for Me" singer says in the interview airing on CBS's "Sunday Morning" this weekend. The 35-year-old crooner is recovering from vocal cord surgery to treat his bout with granuloma in his throat and says he has a new perspective as he readies himself for the next stage of his career. He's also been dating Katy Perry on and off since June 2012. "It's very liberating when you finally realize it's impossible to make everyone like you," he tells CBS' Anthony Mason in the interview. "I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction." All the bad press took a bigger toll on him than not being able to sing, he says.
