Montana's son 49ers, Undrafted quarterback Nate Montana, who is the son of former 49ers star Joe Montana, has accepted an invitation to participate in the San Francisco 49ers' three-day rookie minicamp, multiple media outlets reported.
The camp runs May 10-12. Nate Montana's agent, Marty Magid, told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area that three other teams also offered Montana a chance to participate in their minicamps, but all three are the same weekend, and Montana chose the 49ers. "He's going there and hopefully get a contract," Magid said, according to CSNBA report. The 49ers often invite a local quarterback to the rookie minicamp to share the workload. Montana participated in the 49ers' local pro day on April 17.
"Nate thought it went real well," Magid said. Montana was a backup at three different schools in his first three years of college eligibility -- Pasadena City College, Notre Dame and the University of Montana. He then enrolled at West Virginia Wesleyan, an NCAA Division II school, and played nine games there.
