DEA raids in Seattle, Agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency raided several medical marijuana dispensaries in the Seattle area on Wednesday, NBC News reported, a year after Washington state legalized small amounts of marijuana for residents over 21.
Marijuana use is still illegal under federal law, however, making local medical dispensaries the target of several raids on Wednesday.
According to KOMO, at least five outlets in the Puget Sound region were raided by federal agents carrying guns and confiscating marijuana plants.
"I kept saying, ‘We don't feel like we've done anything wrong. Why are you guys here?’" dispensary owner Casey Lee told KIRO-TV. "And they said, ‘Well, you guys are state legal, but you are still not federally legal,’ that’s all they could tell me."
DEA agents said the raid was part of a two-year investigation.
"We're not sure if they're going out to the other collectives but we're just letting you know that we were raided and we're OK and we're fine and we're not in jail," Olympia's Bayside Clinic wrote on their Facebook page, according to KOMO. "They did take all of our stuff but we are still going to be here to continue this fight."
