The Big New 'Star Trek' Villain May Have Been Leaked by a Very Little Accident

For a while now there have been rumors and whispers that the villain in J.J. Abrams latest Star Trek installment is the notorious Khan. Of course, that hasn't been confirmed yet — it's all part of Paramount's big summer-blockbuster reveal, Super Bowl ad and all.

Even Entertainment Weekly says that no one would spill the beans for their new cover story. So far, all we officially know about Khan's status in the May movie, Star Trek Into Darkness, is that Benedict Cumberbatch is playing a bad guy known as John Harrison. However, someone over at that magazine might have let something slip. Some have noticed that in EW's "Back Issues Store" the cover is labeled "Kirk & Khan:"

Of course, while there might be reason to get excited, there also might not, so we'd take this big reveal with a major grain of salt. Devin Faraci at Badass Digest points out: "The premise here is that whoever does data entry on the EW website had the inside knowledge that Cumberbatch is Khan." He adds: "I mean, it's possible. I've seen stuff leak out through mishandled publicity materials. More likely this is a function of SEO tinkering or somebody just thinking 'Kirk & Harrison' made a shitty headline." Cursed, SEO. Alternatively, whoever was responsible simply took all the rumors as fact.

Previously Khan-related speculation involved the Japanese version of a teaser trailer for the film, which has a shot reminiscent of a moment in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
