In the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the 20-year-old is interviewed at a Hooters restaurant – and, believe it or not, the jiggle joint chain, which bills itself as "delightfully tacky yet unrefined," holds a special place in Gomez’s heart.
“My mom and dad had me when they were young," the Texas native, whose parents divorced when she was 5, tells the magazine. “And when I was 7, my dad would go to Hooters to watch Spurs games. But he started noticing that when I would come, with my little pigtails, all the waitresses would be like, ‘Hey!’ So he ended up half spending time with me but with all those cute girls coming over.” She laughs. "And that kind of became our thing.”
Of course, Gomez is much better known for another one of her relationships – with Justin Bieber. While the on-again, off-again saga between the two young Hollywooders has generated many headlines, she says behind the scenes things were much simpler when they were together. And, Jelena fans take note: She speaks in the past tense.
