Tuna recall expanded: 3 million cans of tuna recalled, Bumble Bee tuna has recalled millions of cans of tuna as a precaution, claiming that some of the cans could have loose seals. The recall consists of 5 oz cans only, most in water, only one in oil all of the "chunk" variety. If you have one of these cans (see the full list below), you should throw it away.
"Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should discard them by disposing in the garbage. Consumers should also direct any questions on the recall or reimbursement by contacting the 24-hour dedicated recall line at (888) 820-1947." Reported Examiner...
The tuna recall expanded to include products that were distributed around the U.S. between Jan. 17, 2013 and March 6, 2013. If you have a can of tuna and you are unsure whether it is safe to eat, you should not take a chance. While the tuna company does not ask consumers to return their cans of tuna to the supermarket, you could always call your local grocery store and ask them if they would consider refunding you or allowing you to exchange the can.
There have not been any illnesses reported from a tainted can and at this point, this recall is just a precaution because of "can integrity concerns."
