Palin Big Gulp, that was Sarah Palin's drink during her recent speech in Maryland on Saturday. The former Alaska governor spoke for the second time at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference on March 16. It was her drink, however, that made headline news today.
According to CNN, Palin took a sip out of a "Big Gulp" which looked like it was filled with Coke.
"She spurred [a] wave of cheers and applause while pausing to take a sip from a Big Gulp, a not-so-veiled swipe at New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's push against large sugary drinks.......CNN reported.
Palin drank Big Gulp to prove a point, however. She openly referred to the newly implemented soda ban that Mayor Bloomberg signed off on. Many people the soda ban is ridiculous and it sounds like Palin agrees. So she took a big 'ole swig and commented to the crowd, "We're cool. Shoot, it's just pop with low calorie ice cubes in it. I hope that's OK," Palin joked.
Naturally, this got people talking. But Palin didn't only take a jab at the new soda ban. She also got the crowd going when she called Obama a liar. She blasted the president and Senate Democrats on their failure to take care of the budget and get a bill passed. But Democrats weren't the only party under fire. Palin criticized GOP leaders just the same.
Aside from Palin drinking a Big Gulp, she packed her speech full of digs and rips around every corner. Some think that her speech packed a lot of punch, others felt it lacked substance and was off mark. What did you think of Palin's speech -- and her Big Gulp?
