Davis played quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners from 1972-76 and was the 1976 Orange Bowl MVP. Davis, 60, was 32-1-1 as a starter and led the Sooners to two national titles.
I'm saddened by the loss of Steve Davis. Great role model for young people on & off the field. He was my 1st QB & had an outstanding career.Davis had also become a mentor to several Oklahoma quarterbacks over the years, including Landry Jones, whom Davis sent a letter of encouragement during Jones' struggles last season.
